Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Iranian First Vice President Pervaiz Daudi on Wednesday discussed the proposed Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project and vowed to carry it forward for the benefit of the participating countries.

Prime Minister Aziz also thanked the Iranian First Vice President for the swift response by Iran to help the quake affected people in Pakistan and noted that the Iranian medical team had helped thousands of injured in the worst hit areas of Pakistan.

He said Pakistan would appreciate if tents and blankets were rushed in for the people living upon the mountains and the incoming winters.

The Iranian Vice President assured that Iran would send further assistance to the quake affected areas of Pakistan.

Referring to Iran's nuclear programme, Prime Minister Aziz said Pakistan was against nuclear proliferation, but recognised that every country had a right to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, under the IAEA guidelines.

He said Pakistan also seeks a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute through negotiations, according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri were also present.
